Project SAFENET
Traffic safety constitutes a constant objective in the field of transport regulation. The state of road accident in Romania revealed by National and European statistical reports underlines the necessity of research which lead to traffic safety improvement.
The project "Research on estimation and enhancement of intrinsic safety performances for urban traffic networks" - SAFENET - includes research on road safety specific to urban area and particularized to Metropolitan Bucharest area. The research has predominant predictive attribute aiming to develop procedures and functions used to anticipate the zones with high risk of road accident for a certain network and for a certain traffic intensity and pattern and to identify the possible solutions peculiar to Bucharest characteristics, for traffic safety enhancement.
The project runs from July 2012 until December 2016 in three work-packages
- Study of the urban road network and developing of the model for estimating of urban network safety performance function
Phase no. 1 - Duration: July 2012 – December 2012
- Solution for enhancement of urban road network safety performances at Municipal Bucharest area level
Phase no. 2 - Duration: January 2013 - December 2013
Phase no. 3 - Duration: January 2014 - December 2014
Phase no. 4 - Duration: January 2015 - December 2015
- Results transfer and dissemination
Duration: January 2014 – September 2016
The main activities of the project are organized on two level presents in the next flowcharts:
I. The initial level of modeling
II. Activities for estimating and enhancement of the safety performance of urban transport network
